Anna was very excited to see that Santa came to our house...and couldn't WAIT to open the big present he left her. Then, we went to Grammy and Grampy's house where she helped pass out presents (and opened a bunch more herself)!
Daddy has been wanting to take Anna and Mommy for a sleigh ride for a long time. We finally made it to Stowe for a sleigh ride. It was a warmer day (32F) and the sun broke through the clouds a couple times. We rode through the woods and past a beautiful stream. Anna loved the horses, Max and Donny.
Anna visited Santa at the mall. She was quite scared. Gramps was in the mall and stopped over to say hi. He help make Anna's visit with Santa a little easier.
Anna loved wearing her witch costume. She talked about it for a month before Halloween. We practiced saying, "trick or treat," and, "thank you." When it came to the big day, Anna only wanted to go to 3 homes before she got scared. We did have a nice time sitting on our porch handing out candy. Anna did a great job helping too!
The night before Halloween was really busy. We visited lots of family and went to the Pumpkin Glow in Jericho. People were frightened to see such a spooky witch!
To get ready for Halloween, Anna, Daddy, and Mommy carved pumpkins over the weekend. Anna's had the sun on it ("Mr. Sun"), Mommy's had a witch, and Daddy's had the moon and a kitty. The day before Halloween Anna got dressed up in her costume and visited family.
Well Anna has been talking about taking the gondola up a mountain for the last two weeks. Back in June we went up Mt. Mansfield in the gondola in the beginning of the summer season. Today was the last day to take the gondola before the ski season starts, so we had to do it. It was chilly and overcast in the valley and the folliage was just past its peak. Up on the moutain there was snow, fog, and blustery wind. Anna loved the gondola. She broght Puppy and showed her the gondola, snow, and the trees. Up at the top, we went into the gift shop for a Christmas ornament. Anna also pet the toy moose outside their door. We had a great trip to Stowe today, including the farmer's market and watching cider pressed at the cider mill.
We went pumpkin picking at a farm in Underhill where we bought Anna's first pumpkin two years ago. You can see Mount Mansfield in the background. Anna talked a lot about going up the mountain in a gondola that day. She remembers from our adventure in June. We got three pumpkins that morning. Anna got one that was a perfect size for her to carry. Inside the store there was a tin where you put your money in to pay or get change. Honor system... Gotta love Vermont.
